Since my last blog, I've had some exciting things happen... Well maybe not exciting... More like CRAZY!!!
Since about my 30Th week being pregnant my doctor has told me that I have more fluid than I'm suppose to. I started out measuring 4 weeks more than I was suppose to. So at 30 weeks, I was measuring like I was 34 weeks. Then, at 34 weeks, I was measuring like I was 35 weeks. Only 1 week bigger, which was a lot better! Ryker was right on target, it was just my fluid throwing my measurements off. The doctor ran tests and everything looked great, but with me measuring big, there was a great chance that I would have Ryker early. So, Jake and I busted our butts to try to get everything ready for Ryker to come early. We succeeded with what felt like plenty of time to spare... If I had only known! If you look at my baby ticker it has a big fat 0 on how many days I have left... Yep, today is my due date and NO RYKER!!! So much for coming early!
I almost went in to labor on Labor Day, which would have been great if it weren't for the wonderful sprained ankles I got that day. I was on my way out the door to go to the Hooper Tomato Days dog race. (My dogs are awesome by the way! They love to run in the dog races and every one I've entered them in, they've won!) I had my purse over my right shoulder, and Newt's leash in my left hand. I stepped out the garage door on to the first step and "OUCH", I rolled my right ankle. I tried to catch myself with my left foot and "OUCH" I rolled the left ankle too. The only thing I could do after that was fall. As I fell down the 4 stairs left, I turned trying not to land on my belly. I ended up landing on my right side and catching myself with my hands and arms before I could roll on to my belly. Jake had been outside helping our neighbor so I tried to yell his name... It came out more like a blood curdling scream though. Of course that put Jake in to a panic and when he ran in to the garage, he was all freaked out! He asked what happened, but I wasn't doing so well... If you know me, you know that pain and I don't mix and I can't stay conscious. I tried to stay awake, and think I might have succeeded (not sure ha ha). I told him I fell and that my ankles hurt. Lucky for me, I have a pack horse for a husband! =) I'm still not sure how he did it, but he lifted my huge prego dead weight body in to the house and put me on the couch. I had Jake get me some ice. My ankles were the last thing on my mind. The ice was for my belly. I had to feel Ryker move. After a couple minutes of putting ice cubes on my belly, I felt him and my panic started to ease up a little. Jake carried me up 17 stairs to my room so I could lay down in bed. About a half hour later, I had to go to the bathroom. I tried to get up by myself, but couldn't put any pressure on either ankle. I called Jake and again he had to help me. I'm not sure if it was the stress or pain or what, but I became really cold and started shaking and was as pale as a ghost. (again, if you know me, you know that I don't get cold!) Jake was afraid that I was going in to shock so he called the doctor and let him know what happened. He told us to get to labor and deliver immediately. So, back down the 17 stairs Jake had just carried me up and in to the truck. When we got to the hospital, Jake ran in to get a wheelchair. The nurse asked him why and he said that his 38 week along wife had fallen down the stairs. Jake said that all the nurses looked at him like he was a freak and he felt that they all were thinking that he pushed me down the stairs... He was way uncomfortable, poor guy! No matter how much he wants Ryker to be here, he'd never throw me down the stairs! ha ha! Of course they all had to investigate. I had about 6 or 7 nurses helping me when I got there. After they seen how Jake took care of me, they relaxed and they no longer hated him... They actually loved him! One older nurse actually told me that if I didn't keep my eye on him, she'd snatch him and take him home with her! They were all impressed at how he would just pick me up and put me wherever they needed me to be. He was amazing! They put me on monitors so we could hear Ryker's heartbeat and see where my contractions were at. The heartbeat was always great, and my contractions started out being only 3-5 minutes apart. My doctor said if they were to continue that far apart, he'd come in and we'd have Ryker in no time. With a fall like the one I took, it is standard to monitor the baby for at least 12 hours. They wanted to monitor him for at least 4 hours before they checked out my ankles. They gave me a pain killer and some ice, and we just sat there and waited. Finally they took me to x-ray and discovered that nothing was broken, just sprained really bad. So back to the room for more monitoring. My doctor showed up at about midnight that night. He had just delivered a baby and decided to pop in and check up on me. By that time, my contractions were 7-10 minutes apart, so I didn't get lucky enough to have him that night. With 2 sprained ankles, I was worried about having a newborn to take care of, so it was kind of a good thing that he didn't come. (now I'm feeling like he'll never come!) I don't think Jake slept much in the hospital. Poor thing had to sleep in a crappy recliner! I got an ambian, so there were no problems with sleep for me! I don't think the 4 red bulls helped put him to sleep either. He didn't want to sleep there. He just wanted to make sure I was okay all night. Sweet thing! I got to go home at about 2:00 p.m. the next day. My doctor ordered me a wheelchair and a walker so I would be able to get around without having Jake carry me everywhere. I love Jake so very much! He is such an amazing person! Every morning I wake up to my breakfast on the counter so I can reach it easily. He's made dinner every night and has done all of the laundry. I've had clean pajamas set out for me while I'm in the shower. He put a chair in the shower too! He set me up a mattress and TV in the empty office room on the main floor so I don't have to crawl up and down the stairs to our bedroom. He's slept in his chair every night since we've been home, just in case I need him. I keep telling him to sleep in bed and that I'll be fine, but he's just not having any of that! He doesn't leave my side much other than going to work. I never thought he could do more for me than he already has for the past 9 months, but I was wrong. He does everything with the best attitude ever! I'm not sure how I was lucky enough to find such an amazing husband, but I'm so so so thankful that I did!
These are pictures I took of my ankles last night. One week later! OUCH!!!

The right one is definitely worse than the left, but they both still suck!
