Oh So Handsome!

After my extremely long post, I thought I should post a picture or two. This is Jake in the suit jacket he wore at the wedding. He was trying it on at Matt and Amber's house, so I snapped a couple pictures. As soon as I get the pictures from the wedding I will post some of him fully clothed! =) It's not every day you see him in a suit! Last time he dressed up was at our wedding! Oh so HANDSOME!

If you look closely at his right hand, you can see his finger, all wrapped up.

Guess How Many Fingers I have

This past weekend was probably one of the worst weekends I have had in a long time. I received a phone call on Friday from Jake. He asked me what I was doing and I replied with, just eating lunch, what are you doing. He said, "well, I just cut my finger off." WHAT!!! OMG!!! He was working with a trailer at work and his glove got stuck in part of the Jack. It sliced his Pointer finger off right under the fingernail and down below the knuckle closest to his fingernail, (about an inch). It broke the bone and left only the fingernail and a little bit of the top of his finger. I freaked! He told me that he was fine and was in a hospital in Salt Lake. He wouldn't tell me which one though. He didn't want me driving down there all upset... So I left work and went home to wait... and wait... and wait... Finally Jake called me again. He said he was fine. The doctor looked at the piece of finger that Jake had in a cup of ice and threw it away. Jake said, "hey you S.O.B. I've been growing that for 25 years and you just throw it away?" =) Even in time of pain, he still has humor! The doctor wrapped his finger up and sent Jake on his way with some meds, (which didn't seem to help ease the pain), and scheduled him for surgery that next Monday (yesterday). I picked Jake up at his work and we headed down to Sandy for an open house for Jake's little sister Melissa. She got married this weekend. Jake toughed it out, even though everyone was telling him he should be home resting.

We went to the Salt Lake Temple on Saturday morning for Melissa and Chris's shindig. We had pictures taken then headed to The Garden for lunch. Jake forgot his pills in the truck so we had to go grab them. The truck was clear up by the capital building so we had Brian take us to get it. After we parked I started walking and Jake paid for the space. He came to find me and realized he left his wallet by the pay box. We ran back there to find that it was gone. He had quite a bit of money in there to give to Melissa and Chris, which made me ill to think we just lost it. Jake looked over at a group crossing the road and there was a guy counting money. Jake yelled at him asking if he found that wallet. The guy said yes and brought it back over to us. Another minute or so, and that guy would have been headed for Wendover or something. =) We gave him $40 for his honesty, and went back to The Garden. Lunch was pretty good. I'm on a diet so I could only eat the roast turkey and veggies, but it wasn't too bad. We left and headed back to the truck. When we got there, Jake realized he had lost his keys. GREAT! Here we go again... Poor Jake! He should have stayed home, but we wouldn't have missed that wedding! Jake retraced his steps and found his keys under the table at The Garden. Wheeeew! Barely lucky again!

The reception Saturday night was AMAZING. It was in Jake's Mom and Dad's backyard. The ponds were all lit up with lights and everything! It was a good time! Jake was tired, but he seemed to manage ok. He even danced with me once. =) They had pineapple delight (just like what is served in Hawaii at the Cultural Center) Cut a pineapple in half, hollow it out and put orange sherbet, pineapple chunks, and fruit cocktail on top, with a cherry and umbrella. It looked yummy, but I could only eat the fruit. (I had a little ice cream too, but not much. Hey, what could I do? I was trying to get to the fruit!)

Sunday wasn't very fun for Jake. He was tired and his finger (or lack of) Hurt like crazy! Every time he'd try to move his arm, he would feel the broken bone poke through the scab that was starting to form. OUCH!!! Poor guy! I felt so bad! My brother was coming to get our old truck and fishing boat to park it at his house so Jake and I decided to have them stay for dinner. Matt, Amber and Berlyn came too. It was fun! We had Steak, Salad, Corn, Rice, and Rolls, (Matt and I of course could only have the steak and salad). Jake's last meal before surgery. MMMMM! We put in a hunting dvd for the boys and the girls just hung out and talked. It was a good time!

Monday, again, wasn't very fun for Jake. We were in Salt Lake for his surgery at 10:15. They took him right back. He was under for and hour and a half. The doctor came to talk to me as Jake was waking up. He told me that everything went well and Jake was fine. The only problem they had was that Jake took a swing at the anesthesiologist. Good thing he didn't connect, he probably would have killed the little guy! They took a skin graft from his arm and reconstructed his finger. They shaved the bone and then wrapped a flap of skin from his middle finger around his pointer finger. His fingers will be together for 3 weeks to try to regrow the skin, and make his finger usable again. When they cut them apart in 3 weeks, everything should be fine. HOPEFULLY!!!

What a weekend!
